  59.          The  AceComm  package is distributed in a compressed format.  The
  60.          compression utility used with AceComm is the current  version  of
  61.          LHA  (this writing LHA213).  AceComm package and sub-packages are
  62.          compressed as  SelF  eXtracting  "SFX"  files.   This  means  the
  63.          compressed  file "ARCHIVE" uses an .EXE file extention.  This SFX
  64.          format allows you  the  user  to  simply  type  the  name  of  an
  65.          archive.   The  archive's  SFX code will execute, and extract the
  66.          files to their un-compressed form.

  68.          Many BBS systems will store the distributed SFX  file  inside  an
  69.          archive envelope of their default archiver.

  71.                QUICK SETUP STEPS
  72.          
  73.          Step  1
  74.             - Un compress the AceComm package into it's own subdirectory.
  75.               This example assumes the filename ACE0520.EXE
  76.               AceComm filenames are dated eith release date.
  77.               ACE   05      20     .EXE
  78.                   month    day      SFX
  79.               where 0520 means 05/20 or May 20 releasee date
  80.               .EXE means AceComm  is  distributed  as  a  SelF eXtracting
  81.               archive (SFX)

  84.                  At the DOS prompt type:  md \ace
  85.                  At the DOS prompt type:  copy ACE0520.EXE \ACE
  86.                  At the DOS prompt type:  cd \ace

  89.               The basic setup files will be ready in a subdirectory ACE.
  90.               Other  files  that  include  SFX  in the filename and end in
  91.               .EXE file extentiion, are also SelF eXtracting archives.
  92.               These files are enhancements to the basic setup.

  95.             - Read ACTL.DOC  (1 page)
  96.             - Run ACTL.EXE (complies ACE.CTL into ACE.PRM)

  99.             ACTL.EXE need only be run when creating  a  new  re-initialized
  100.             PRM  file  is  desired.   All  PRM-data is editable from within
  101.             inside AceComm.

  116.          After  having  become  familar with AceComm, you may decide to
  117.          edit ACE.CTL for some  personal  defaults.   This  will  allow
  118.          future compilations to use your custom setup instructions.

  121.          The following are enhancements to the AceComm package

  123.          a) FON_SFX.EXE
  124.             FON_SFX contains several sample .BBS, FON, and .NOD files.
  125.          
  126.             It  is  suggested  that  FON_SFX  be  un-compressed  inside  a
  127.             subdirectory to the AceComm directory

  131.                  At the DOS prompt type:  md \ace\fon
  132.                  At the DOS prompt type:  copy FON_SFX.EXE \ace\fon

  137.             NOTE: ACTL creates these directories if defined in ACE.CTL and

  140.          b) KTS_SFX.EXE
  141.             KTS_SFX  contains  the  KTS  files  included  in  the  default
  142.             setup,  as  well  as  the  ascii  versions.  Ascii version KTS
  143.             files  share  the  filename  with  LTS  files,  but  use  .ASC
  144.             extention.

  146.             It  is  suggested  that  KTS_SFX  be  un-compressed  inside  a
  147.             subdirectory to the AceComm directory

  168.             UTIL_SFX contains several utilities that enhance the AceComm
  169.             package. Each utility has it's .DOC file.

  172.             subdirectory to the AceComm directory

  182.             CBF.EXE can compile direct FBL output into a FON  file.   'CBF
  183.             1_114.BBS'

  185.             IDX.EXE  creates  a  very small index file so that AceComm can
  186.             use a RAW NODELIST file for mailer mode/file requests.

  188.             FBL.EXE creates a .BBS and .NOD file from the raw nodelist for
  189.             a given NET HOST

  191.             KTS.EXE compiles a Key Translation Sequence file from ascii to
  192.             binary format.
  193.          
  194.             ANSI.EXE filters ANSI and AVATAR video control sequence  codes
  195.             from files.  ANSI.EXE can also be used to view the files.
